RFID for Members Attendance Tracking

RFID for Members Attendance Tracking

Calvary Temple was one of the fastest growing Church/Temple in the world. From the humble beginnings with around 30 members to over 2.5 Lakh members the church has grown tremendously within a short period. Since its inception, the church has adopted technologies for maintenance and handling of the church activities. So they are always active in using latest techniques for running the church and for that reason they have provided for each member of the church an RFID card and a unique membership number along with it which they called as membership card (that's how they know the exact count of the members). Every Sunday they have prayers which are attended by many members like for Sunday prayers alone over 1 Lakh members attend only at Hyderabad location itself. The temple wanted to know how many members are visiting the Sunday prayers every week. As each member have the RFID card with them, they thought it would be straightforward for them to track the member's attendance,

so they have started looking for a solution through which they know precisely how many members are attending Sunday papers and who are they. For this, they started looking for a solution which can capture the member's attendance, for over 18 months they have tried many different solutions from many big companies but none of them are meeting their requirements which were quite simple on paper but quite complex on the implementation. Finally, they have come across our company HighGo and requested us to provide with solutions which solve their problem.

HighGo started looking into their requirement by first looking at the different solutions offered by the other companies which failed and finding out the exact reasons for their failure too. What HighGo has realized after checking the others solutions was most of their solutions were dependent on the RFID readers they are using, and they were restricted to the only fixed number of RFID tag entries and also limited in memory and reading capacities. After thorough research HighGo not only able to offer them a custom made solution using which they were able to capture the member's attendance without any limitations and restrictions. HighGo developed an application which holds all members data within it along with the RFID tag number connected to members unique number and clients which are connected to members application and an RFID reader. When a member presents his card at a client, then the RFID tag number searches for the member in the application and captures the attendance if the members are found. As there is a huge rush on Sundays, they have just kept on increasing the number of clients so that every member can register their attendance. Also, the same client set up they have used for their other locations too. Now they have this setup running in total 8 different locations, and each location has a minimum of 4 clients for registering members attendance, and Hyderabad location has over 20 clients.

Flap Barriers for Entry and Attendance Capture

After offering Calvary Temple, the custom made solution for their member's attendance capture which was working quite well for them they want to do something even better to manage and handle the crowds for the Sunday prayers. As the crowds kept on increasing and increasing of clients was also not helping them as at each client the ques for reporting their attendance got bigger, and the members complained about the long ques too. So the Temple thought of introducing Flap Barriers for the entry of the members to bring in order. The temple approached HighGo if we can integrate our member's application into the barriers so that every member can register their attendance while entering itself and the flap barriers allow him to come if he is a registered member. HighGo after through research came up with a solution of integrating with the Flap barriers the clients. All the registered members can come in through the flap barriers using their membership card, and while they are present the card for opening the Flaps the same moment their attendance also gets captured, so they no longer have to stand in ques at the clients. We have integrated all together 6 gates for the Hyderabad location of the temple wherein each gate as a 6 Flap Barriers. Once the flap barriers were introduced, no more clients were required at this location, and every member attendance was captured the moment he makes an entry into the temple.

Here also we used our custom solution built without any restrictions concerning the storage of the RFID tags within the setup of the Flap barriers. The conventional Flap Barriers or for that matter all RFID tag readers come with a limited number of capacities, and they are restricted to an absolute upper limit which they can't exceed.
